We are the McDonald family. My name is Alyia and my husband's name is Kirk. We have six beautiful children that play and interact with the dogs and puppies on a daily basis. We are located in Coffee County, Georgia. We live on 46 acres right on the Satilla River, so our dogs have plenty of room to run and play! We bought our first Boykin Spaniel puppy back in 2013 for a Christmas gift for Kirk's oldest son, Hayden, and now the rest is history! I have a huge heart for animals and I have always wanted to have as many as possible. Kirk has helped me make that dream become a reality! God has truly blessed us to be able to bless others, one litter at a time!
We work diligently to provide quality puppies by breeding for what we view as the best mix of the most desirable traits of the breed. Our dogs exhibit good retrieving and hunting characteristics, but are also bred for good temperament in order to make them just as good family dogs as they are hunting dogs. With this in mind, we work to produce dogs that are in the middle of the breed standard concerning size. Our female Boykins average 35 pounds and our male Boykins average 40 pounds. Our female German Shorthaired Pointers average 45 pounds and our male German Shorthaired pointers average 55 pounds. Our female Springer Spaniels average 40 pounds and our male Springer Spaniels average 50 pounds. Our female Labrador Retrievers average 60 pounds and our male Labrador Retrievers average 70 pounds.
We carefully select our sires and dams in order to minimize the risk of problems such as Hip Dysplasia, eye issues, or other congenital problems that could occur.
Happy & Healthy Bloodline
Whiskey and Rhyder, our Boykin sires, have been OFA tested on Congenital Cardiac Disease as well as Elbow and Hip Dysplasia.
Results indicated that all tests were within normal range.

Our Breeds
Boykin Spaniel
The Boykin Spaniel breed is a tough, energetic, and enthusiastic hunting dog, yet gentle and contented in the home. An affectionate and fiercely loyal personality is a hallmark of the breed. Boykin's make wonderful family pets as well as excellent hunting dogs. They thrive on companionship and enjoying the company of children and other dogs.
Boykins have two coat colors:
1. Dark Chocolate
2. Rich Liver
German Shorthaired Pointers
The German Shorthaired Pointer breed is known for power, speed, agility, and endurance. Noble and aristocratic are words often used to describe the overall look.
The GSP breed come in a variety of colors and markings:
1. Liver & White/Black & White Ticked
2. Liver Roan
3. Solid Black/Liver
4. Liver & White/Black & White
5. Liver & White/Black & White Patched
6. Liver & White/Black & White Patched & Ticked
GSP's make happy, trainable pets who bond firmly to their family. They are always up for physical activities like running, swimming, or hunting.
English Springer Spaniels
English Springer Spaniels are tough, muscular hunters that are bred to work closely with humans. Springers are highly trainable people-pleasers. They crave company and are polite dogs that are good with kids and other animals. They are eager to join in any family activities such as long walks, games of chase, fetch, and swimming are favorite pastimes of these rugged spaniels. They also make wonderful hunting dogs. Our ESS's are considered to be the field breed.
The ESS breed comes in a variety of colors and markings:
1. Black or liver with white markings or predominantly white with black or liver markings.
2. Blue or liver roan.
3. Tricolor: black and white or liver and white with tan markings, usually found on eyebrows, cheeks, inside of ears and under the tail.
*Any white portion of the coat may be flecked with ticking.
Labrador Retrievers
Labrador Retrievers are a strongly built and athletic dog that enables them to function as a retrieving gun dog as well as a great family companion. Labrador Retrievers are America’s most popular dog breed. Labs are friendly, smart, outgoing, and high-spirited companions who have more than enough affection to go around for a family looking for a medium-to-large dog.
The Lab breed comes in a variety of colors:

2. Yellow
3. Chocolate

Labradoodles
Labradoodles are a cross between a Labrador Retriever and a Standard Poodle. Labradoodles are intelligent, friendly, and at least moderately active. Their coat is shaggy or curly and requires maintenance and grooming. They are also hypoallergenic and do not shed.
Labradoodles come in a variety of colors:

After losing our 15-year-old lab in January and a rescued GSP in April, I was just "looking" at dogs. I saw Alyia's posting for Si (think Uncle Si, from Duck Dynasty). I immediately inquired and Alyia got back to me right away. She was so nice and you could tell her dogs were loved. We adopted Si without meeting him that night! Alyia always answered my texts and answered any questions that I had almost immediately. She even helped us get a transport from Georgia to Maryland. Si is a gorgeous all liver 2 year old. Our vet was very impressed with Si and he checked out perfectly. He is a great family dog. He is good with my kids and my three cats. He loves to be around people and take long walks. He is a super snuggler! We are so happy to have found Alyia and cannot wait to get our next puppy. Si's brother is going to be a daddy and we cannot wait to meet him in October. My Milly pup is now 8 months old. She is the sweetest and most caring dog. She sticks by my side and is weary when strangers come around me. She is attached to me like white on rice since we brought her home and the rest is history! She is great with my niece/nephew and gets along very well with other dogs. She loves to run and has even learnt how to throw a ball or a stick for herself to chase. She was very easy to train commands. She is such a smart pup. When we met our fur baby, the mama dog came right up to us, played, ran around, and smiled so big! These are the best dogs and the sweetest fur-ever friends! Last year I got a Boykin puppy from the McDonald’s and I just have to say, she is the smartest and instinctual dog I have ever owed. There is so much drive and eagerness within herself to please her owner. The day I took her home, she already knew how to fetch and I just had to call her to get her to bring back the fowl. Not to mention how beautiful her liver colored coat is. She is much stronger and faster than my other dogs.

Just under two years ago, my Aunt and Uncle purchased a Boykin spaniel from K&A kennels. My husband and I quickly fell in love with their "Breesie" and decided we had to have one. Less than a year later, we welcomed Payton into our home. I work for a home improvement company and have the privilege of bringing her to work with me. PayPay has stolen the hearts of every person who has entered my office. She is not only the most beautiful dog I have ever seen, she is the sweetest and best natured dog I have ever been around. She loves my kids and watches over them. Payton is very healthy and happy. Almost everyone who enters my office asks what breed Payton is. Boykins are rare in Louisiana. I am so in love with my first GSP. The McDonald family is very knowledgeable about the breed and very passionate about their dogs. When I walked down to their kennels, I was very impressed. You can see how much they put into caring for their pets, as well as all of ours. I believe my puppy will be a great hunter and family pet. My *Ember* is smart, healthy (most importantly) and beautiful.

We got our Boykin Spaniel, Breesie, almost 2 1/2 years ago from Alyia. My husband was working in Wyoming when he saw a woman walking her Boykin Spaniel. Never seeing one before, he asked her all about it. He did some research, and decided he needed one for his travel companion. He found Alyia online. Unfortunately, they had sold all of the current litter. However, they had a 12-week-old girl they had plan on keeping. Alyia knew he had his heart set on getting one, so she graciously let us buy her. She was shipped from Georgia to Wyoming. I flew up there from our home in West Monroe, Louisiana a few days later. It was absolute love at first sight!! We drove home with our new Breesie in tow. Our lives have changed! She is our daughter! We love her dearly!! Everyone that meets her falls instantly in love! My niece even had to have a pup from the same parents. Now she has Payton, which is Breesie’s, little sister!! I cannot imagine my life, had Alyia not let us get her. I am forever grateful to you, Alyia!! I HIGHLY recommend a Boykin Spaniel to anyone who wants a truly loyal and highly intelligent dog. THEY ARE THE BEST!! By the way, Breesie does not travel with my husband. There is no way I could live without her! She goes with me everywhere I go now!

We received June, a tri-colored roan, female English Springer Spaniel from a Malley/Cash litter. In fact, Henry (pictured above) is her brother. She is nearly 1 year old now and has leveled off at a weight of 44-45 lbs. She is beautiful, intelligent, independent, playful, and quick to please. She took to water almost immediately. Very trainable, but can be stubborn. She has a keen nose and has an eye for birds and small game. Kirk and Alyia of K&A Kennels were great to work with, especially because we were out of state.
We are quick to recommend K&A Kennels to anyone that asks where she is from. Thanks again!!

My husband and I got a German Shorthair Pointer in November; B’mer is around 5 months old now. No matter what we did to exercise, he is excessively full of energy. The only time he is calm was after playing with other dogs. Therefore, we decided he needed a playmate. We found K&A Kennels, who had a litter ready to go home who was the closest to where we lived. We put down our deposit and set a date. Day of pick-up was an adventure. Dirt road leading to their house was a little concerning, however once we got there, just WOW. Beautiful place, the kennels where the dogs were kept was clean and well maintained. Very impressive!! Our little guy was there to meet us with all his littermates. Talk about puppy Heaven!! Benzy has been a well-mannered and mellow pup so far. We started training and he picked up sit in 2 days. Very smart!! K&A Kennels is very open and prompt to respond to any questions we had quickly. They provided extra pictures of our puppy that showed him romping around. Too cute!! We could not be happier with our experience and would recommend anyone to K&A Kennels.

We lost our 15-year old Weimaraner last year and we were finally ready for a new family pet. After searching many options, we came across The McDonald's with K&A Kennels. We inquired, exchanged a few texts and decided to take the plunge. Alyia was very responsive and kept us up to date on the progress of the litter and the GSP pup we selected. She even sent us pictures every time we asked and was quick to answer any questions we had. We have had our Liver Roan GSP (Kali) now 3 weeks and are completely in love. She is so beautiful, healthy, and smart, has learned to go up and down the stairs of our townhome and is progressing well with crate/potty training. Upon pickup, it was obvious how much the entire family cares about their dogs; from the information packet, they provided, to the vaccinations, and even the going home bath. If you are looking for your next family pet, you must consider K&A Kennels. We got our male Boykin from K&A Kennels almost a year ago. We had another male Boykin that we had to put down after 15 years and our new boy has filled an empty place in our hearts. "Bogie" is loving, vigorous, smart, and has stolen our hearts. He is a very strong retriever, has a great nose and loves the water. We take him everywhere we go and he loves going with us on the golf course. He has become the mascot of our course and everyone there loves him.

Thank you so much to Alyia and family for such a great experience when we decided to add a Springer Spaniel to our family. We could NOT be happier with our Boykin pup from K&A Kennels!! He is absolutely amazing!! He is 4 months old now completely housebroken and even rings the bells on the door to go outside. This being my first time dipping into the pure bred market and honestly I was a bit skeptical of the whole thing, but Alyia and her husband put all my doubts to ease. K&A Kennels are wonderful to work with when we inquired about getting our Boykin. When we decided on one, they regularly sent pictures and updates on our little fur baby, Dixie. We picked her up towards the end of March 2020. They had a nice folder of documents ready for us. It had training tips and tricks, what shots/vaccines were administered and which were needed and when, as well as all of her bloodline papers. I was not expecting such great service! Their property is well cared for and their "pack" was happy and healthy!!
I will recommend K&A Kennels to anyone I know who is looking for a breed they offer.

We lost our 11 year old pointer mix very suddenly back in March and were completely lost without him. I didn’t think I could even begin to consider welcoming another dog into our lives so soon, but we quickly realized the house was just too empty and we needed a new baby to be able to heal. We knew we wanted a GSP and came upon K&A Kennels by chance and we are so glad we did. We had a wonderful experience with the McDonalds from the very first communication to pickup, and beyond! Our boy was the last of his litter and we fell in love with him immediately. Alyia and Kirk were so kind and answered all our questions and let us come visit several times until he was ready to go.
Franklin has been a burst of happy energy in our lives at a time we needed him most and he has quickly and effortlessly established himself as part of our family. He is such a smart, sweet, beautiful boy and we get compliments every time we are out with him. We are looking forward to the years of adventures and cuddles ahead and we are so grateful to the McDonald's for such an amazing puppy!!

It has only been a couple of days since Junior has been home but he is already asking to go outside to potty, he knows "sit" AND he loves walking by the pond to chase the geese. He also LOVES his sister Lagatha, and she loves him. They are quickly becoming inseparable.
Thank you again, so much, for providing us this opportunity. He is really everything I could have wanted. As his training progresses and he gets his AKC certifications I will keep you updated.

We had a wonderful experience with K&A kennels. They were great at communicating with us through the whole puppy buying process. They kept us up to date with how our puppy was doing, as well as sent us pictures regularly. We love our new puppy, and are exited to see him grow!

We are first time Boykin Spaniel owners and I couldn’t ask for a better dog. The process we went through with Alyia to get our little Bogey was so easy. She was attentive and answered all my questions and concerns I had. I texted/emailed constantly and asked for updates on the little ones and she never failed to contact me back.
Our “little” which is what I call our Mr. Bogey is the best dog I have ever had. He is very intelligent, obedient, loving and so playful. He is the cutest thing ever too. We love him and hope to get another friend for him soon from Alyia.

Just wanted to touch base and let you know we are so in love with our GSP. Maverick has been the best addition to our crazy bunch, he fits in perfectly with our six kids. He is spoiled rotten and is a complete mama’s boy! He is ridiculously smart and loves to be mentally stimulated! He loves to play fetch and run with the kids. But most of all he enjoys all the snuggles.
